Advice on settling an Estate?

If you settle and estate and no longer have an Executor can he submit expenses at that time? We will be settling an estate and then have equal ownership of the house. We are concerned about "undisclosed" expense he may submit after we settle. It would make sense that everything be taken care of before we sign the settlement.
