Boyd And Players Warnings?

If Boyd is not being pursued by Celtic and the very thought is so preposterous, why are all these former and current rangers players coming out of the wood work warning him against it? Surely they should be as savvy as the next guy on this subject or do they think it is a real possibility? Also when was the last time the board came out with such an emphatic denial so quickly.
