Master of etherium (MTG question)?

when this guy comes into the battlefield he gets attack and toughness equal to the # of artifacts u control...so first off...is this a 1 time thing only? what happens if I play another artifact? does he get an extra pump? and does himself count as a pump becuase hes an artifact too?
