Why are dogs so popular?

they smell horrible, they're annoying and never shut up, they are stupid and will show affection to anybody who feeds it. they are all around disgusting animals in general. why are there countless movies and books dedicated to these cretins? people spend hundreds in dog apparel, dog spas, and specialized bottled dog water. why? i have never felt love for a dog. dogs will eat their own **** and then owners will let them lick their mouth. that is repulsive. that is not cute or funny. that is a health hazard. all of these so called scientific studies that show that dogs mouths are cleaner then humans, or that dogs are extremely intelligent animals is contrived. they are truly filthy creatures. again i ask, why are they so popular?
